It’s become very clear to me that knowing ourselves is critical to having authentic, meaningful, life-giving relationships.
Not just observing what we do (self-awareness), but really understanding what triggers us and causes us to do things we don’t even want to do. That’s self-knowledge.
Self-knowledge is necessary both for human relationships and our relationship with God.
It allows us to choose how we respond to people and situations, without feeling like we have no choice but to react… usually without much thought.
